About mdstudio

mdstudio is a minimal, fast markdown editor and viewer. There's no account to create, no backend, and nothing to install — paste or drop a markdown file and it renders instantly.

Why it works this way

Everything runs in your browser. Documents live in localStorage, and — if you use the “Open a local folder” option — directly on your own filesystem via the File System Access API, with edits saved straight back to disk. Nothing is uploaded anywhere, because there's nowhere for it to go.

  • GFM markdown, math (KaTeX), and Mermaid diagrams
  • A customizable look — fonts, accent color, width, spacing, code theme
  • Local folder sync, drag-and-drop import, and export to Markdown/HTML/PDF
  • Shareable links that encode a document straight into the URL
